Six days of shellfish in Olhão
Gastronomic Festival to run from 10th to 15th August
The 21st edition of the Festival do Marisco (Festival of Shellfish), to run between 10th and 15th August, will be "a success", according to Francisco Leal, President of the Council of Olhão, which promotes every year one of the best gastronomic festivals of the country.
Following the model which has become such a success in previous years, tons of fresh shellfish will be accompanied by musical entertainment, which brings names like D'Zrt, Tony Carreira and Daniela Mercury to the "City of the Restoration".
"The Shellfish Festival has grown year upon year, being ever more sought-after and which forms part of the holiday plans of the Portuguese and foreigners. There is nobody who does not know about this event. Every year we try to make it better", stated the President of the local authority, in Friday's presentation of the event.

The Medieval Fair of Óbidos will take place from July 13 to 23, and extends across the streets, courtyards and alleys of the historic town.
The rows of market stalls, where practical and decorative items made in the spirit of the Middle Ages are sold, create the real feeling of a fair.
Along with the public, over a hundred actors, numerous musicians, dancers, beggars, victims of the plague and other performers liven up the market spirit.
Outdoor reenactments performed amidst the public bring to the stage noblemen and peasants, clergymen, merchants, artisans and jesters. The displays by master craftsmen and apprentices, provides an insight into traditional medieval handicrafts. Also local traditional gastronomy will served in a true medieval atmosphere.

Casa D. Dinis, Marvão
You will find Casa D. Dinis, inside the walls, on the top of the highest Portuguese village in one of the many ancient and well-preserved houses, benefiting from one of the most privileged situations in Marvão.
MARVÃO – Heritage of Humanity - Official application by the Portuguese state. Medieval burgh of unique features at 800m height, "a unique creation of Man and Nature"
From an artistic arrangement that combines the pictures and tissues of the atelier "Chão da Casa" with the mural paintings and designed details of the dutch artist Anu Kruijtbosch, results an original decoration that personalizes each one of its spaces.
The stones of the arches, the staircase and the outline of the windows that quietly watch the village from the high that look around the vast of heaven are the present witness of a live past.
